Southside's Blake Devine rumbled for the longest rushing play in 5A Region 7 this season in his game against Fort Payne last week. Devine scampered for 73 yards on the play and finished with 161 on the day as his team lost to the Wildcats.
Fort Payne extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Southside, 45-20. The victory was the fourth in a row for Paul Ellis's team.
Marty Smith's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Patrick Lister threw for 38 and one touchdown and Devine had 19 yards receiving. Justin Denson helped Southside's passing attack out by catching two balls for 19 yards.
Columbia's Patrick Lewis and Terence Humphrey have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Lewis has thrown for 366 yards this season, while Humphrey has five catches for 190 yards. The Panthers' Dantley Coker leads the league in rushing yards with 432.
Etowah took down the Eagles 48-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
