Not much got past Tino LoPresto, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Hornell off the board. LoPresto has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Camron Quick was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Trey Porpora, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Palmyra-Macedon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hornell only posted a batting average of .150.
Meanwhile, Wayne entered their game against Waterloo on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Eagles fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-1. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Palmyra-Macedon pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Wayne, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 6-4.
Wayne's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Palmyra-Macedon has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. It's a different story for Wayne, though, as they've only averaged .349. Will they be able to contain Palmyra-Macedon's hitters?
Palmyra-Macedon couldn't quite get it done against Wayne when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can the Red Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
