The Cox Mill Chargers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mooresville Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cox Mill knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Mooresville likes a good challenge.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 18 to ten on the offensive boards, a fact Cox Mill proved on Tuesday. They really took it to South Iredell for the full four quarters, racking up a 80-37 victory on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Cox Mill has managed all season.
Cox Mill found their leader in underclassman Cruz Miller, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Brown, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mooresville unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Lake Norman, falling 89-54. While losing is never fun, Mooresville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Lake Norman is ranked fourth).
Cox Mill now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Mooresville, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6.
Cox Mill couldn't quite finish off Mooresville in their previous matchup on January 10th and fell 62-60. Will Cox Mill have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
