Central Kansas recap Oct. 16, 2012
Hillsboro extended the longest winning streak in Central Kansas this week by beating Moundridge, 55-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Hesston was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. The Swathers beat Circle 51-8 earlier in the week.
Hillsboro's dynamic duo of Tyler Proffitt and Evan Ollenburger proved tough for the Wildcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Proffitt threw for 176 yards and one touchdown and Ollenburger had 51 yards receiving. Shaq Thiessen helped Hillsboro's passing attack out by catching three balls for 41 yards.
Zach Andersen was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 138 yards on 16 carries as Kingman bested Moundridge. Braxton Bangert also contributed to the rushing game with 64 yards on the ground.
The Trojans' Proffitt and Thiessen have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Central Kansas in both passing and receiving yards. Proffitt has thrown for 1413 yards this season, while Thiessen, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 21 catches for 560 yards. The Eagles' Andersen leads the league in rushing yards with 684.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Kingman takes on Haven. Curtis Albin's team is in ninth place, while the Wildcats are in seventh place.
Hillsboro took down Courtney Moddelmog's team 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Proffitt ran for 17 yards in the win.
