Section 1 A - 2 recap October 29, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Section 1 A - 2 this week, Rye beat Yorktown 36-20. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Garnets.
Ossining moved up to 109 from 136 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Ossining was able to move up by topping John Jay 62-59.
Dan Ricci's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Justin Davidov threw for 236 and 5 touchdowns and Shea Holebrook had 102 yards receiving. On the ground Davidov chipped in 172 yards. James Johnson helped Ossining's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 73 yards.
He went 11-21 with 2 interceptions.
Davidov put up the best numbers through the air as Ossining topped the Indians. Davidov's favorite target this week was Holebrook, who caught 3 passes for 102 yards.
Davidov has thrown for 1,404 yards and 19 touchdowns this season, while Johnson has 18 catches for 429 yards. Davidov also leads the league in rushing with 1,008 yards.
A big matchup in Section 1 A - 2 this week will be when Ossining takes on Somers. Ossining is currently in fourth, while the Tuskers are in second.
There should be lots of points scored when Ossining and Somers face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Ossining comes in having scored 312 this season, while Tony DeMatteo's team has scored 272. Ossining scored 62 points last week as it bested John Jay.
Ossining made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,781 from 5,417. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 62-59 victory over Jimmy Clark's team last week.
