Phoenix Christian (Phoenix, Ariz.) defeated
Sequoia (Mesa, Ariz.) 42-14 while riding the arm of John Debus, who tossed five touchdown passes.
The Cougars were up 14-0 at the half after taking the lead on a defensive touchdown in the first quarter.
Phoenix Christian expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. PC scored once in the quarter on a touchdown pass by Debus to Jordan Leary.
Debus and Nick Johnson teamed up to form a dynamic passing combination. Johnson has now caught three touchdowns this season.
Debus played well for the Phoenix school in the victory. The senior quarterback kicked four extra points.
The loss comes after Sequoia defeated San Carlos 21-6 last week. With the win the Cougars extended their winning streak to three games.
In a V Section II game next week Phoenix Christian (3-0) takes on Tonopah Valley, and Sequoia (1-2) will go up against American Christian Academy in a non-conference game.
