Valor Christian is a perfect 7-0 against Rock Canyon since October of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Valor Christian has three straight victories, Rock Canyon has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
If Valor Christian beats Rock Canyon with 49 points on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Eagles really took it to Fruita Monument for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-6 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Valor Christian can attribute much of their success to Titus Huard, who threw for 109 yards and four TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes, and Chase Hanosh, who rushed for 112 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Those four passing touchdowns gave Huard a new career-high. Cash Spence was another key player, picking up 48 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Valor Christian's run defense was locked in: Fruita Monument could only muster 1.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Evan Ingalls for the heroic effort on defense: he. Valor Christian's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.57 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 8.47 on average over their last five games.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 54-7, which was the final score in Rock Canyon's tilt against Mountain Vista on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked second).
Valor Christian's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Rock Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Thursday's game might be decided on the ground. Valor Christian has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 171.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Rock Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 163.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Valor Christian against Rock Canyon in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 59-7 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Jaguars' Tyler Meyer, who rushed for 233 yards while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for the Eagles to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
