Caroline is 2-7 against Courtland since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Caroline Cavaliers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Courtland Cougars at 7:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Caroline has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Courtland will arrive with three straight wins.
Last Friday, Caroline had to suffer through a rough 42-7 loss at the hands of Colonial Heights.
Caroline's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Malik Johnson, who picked up 119 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Myles Holmes who threw for 266 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Courtland put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They blew past Chancellor 42-7 at home. With Courtland ahead 21-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Caroline's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 King George (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.5% over those games). As for Courtland, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Caroline strolled past Courtland when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a score of 36-22. Does Caroline have another victory up their sleeve, or will Courtland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
