The Lake Minneola Hawks lost against the Jones Fightin' Tigers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Lake Minneola took a 56-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jones. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lake Minneola in their matchups with Jones: they've now lost three in a row.
Lake Minneola lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alvin Colbert, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Colbert has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Isom, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Lake Minneola smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Jones' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keishaun Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 18 rebounds. Robinson is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Isaac Buckley, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Lake Minneola now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Jones, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-8.
Lake Minneola won't have much time to rest: their next game is against East Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. East Ridge comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Jones, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Boone at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Boone is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.4 points per game.
