Eldorado is a perfect 8-0 against Albuquerque since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Golden Eagles will welcome the Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Eldorado gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Cibola. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Golden Eagles.
Cooper Burak tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Nathaniel Jaramillo was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Gonzales, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Eldorado was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Albuquerque and Volcano Vista meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Bulldogs walked away with a 10-5 win over the Hawks. The game was the first time the Bulldogs have beaten the Hawks on their field since March 7, 2017.
Michael Grange made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Grange was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maximo Granados, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. Andre Martin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Albuquerque's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Eldorado, their win bumped their record up to 3-0-1.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Eldorado has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .525. However, it's not like Albuquerque struggles in that department as they've averaged .456. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Eldorado's way against Albuquerque in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, as Eldorado made off with an 11-0 victory. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
