Streamwood is 0-4 against South Elgin since September of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Streamwood Sabres will head out on the road to face off against the South Elgin Storm at 7:00 p.m. Streamwood is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Streamwood strolled past Fenton with points to spare, taking the game 30-14. The win was just what Streamwood needed coming off of a 34-14 defeat in their prior match.
Streamwood's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Aden Strong, who rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and Taro Ishikawa, who rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns. Strong was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for South Elgin on the road against Bartlett on Friday as the squad secured a 49-7 win. The result was nothing new for South Elgin, who have now won six matchups by 28 points or more so far this season.
South Elgin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kevon Brooks jr, who threw for 121 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Ari Kravis and his 114 yards on the ground were also a key factor in South Elgin's victory.
Their wins bumped Streamwood to 2-6 and South Elgin to 7-1.
Streamwood was dealt a bruising 48-6 loss at the hands of South Elgin in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Streamwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
