Westfield is 7-1 against South Lakes since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Westfield Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the South Lakes Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Westfield comes in on three and South Lakes on ten.
Westfield put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-12 victory over Chantilly at home. Given Westfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Chantilly is ranked 132nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, after only 12 points in their last matchup, South Lakes made sure to put some points up on the board against Centreville on Friday. South Lakes really took it to Centreville for the full four quarters, racking up a 45-3 win on the road. Considering South Lakes has won eight matches by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
South Lakes got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nick Harris out in front who threw for 347 yards and five touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes. James Zschunke was another key contributor, picking up 163 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Westfield is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for South Lakes, their victory was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 9-0.
Westfield took their victory against South Lakes in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 40-15. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westfield since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
