The Tygarts Valley Bulldogs lost against the Pocahontas County Warriors back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Tygarts Valley took a 60-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tygarts Valley in their matchups with the Warriors : they've now lost three in a row.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alyssa Swecker, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Swecker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Smith, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Olivia Vandevender was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with five assists and three steals for Pocahontas County. Allyson Taylor was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.
Tygarts Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Pocahontas County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season.
Tygarts Valley's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Fighting Irish at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Notre Dame has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 5. As for Pocahontas County, they will head out on the road to face off against the Tide at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
