The Covington Trojans's game on Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They snuck past Faith Christian with a 73-69 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Austin Stein was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Coye Ferguson, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds.
Faith Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sam Peter, who scored 13 points along with five assists. Rj Berry was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five assists.
Speaking of assists, Faith Christian were working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Covington only racked up 12 assists.
Covington pushed their record up to 4-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road dating back to last season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of four points across that stretch. As for Faith Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
