In what's become a running theme this season, the Grassfield Grizzlies gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 68-39 win over Lakeland. Given Grassfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Lakeland is ranked 304th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grassfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amaya Fisher, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Fisher is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Priester, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Grassfield has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Lakeland, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-16.
Grassfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-42 win vs. Hickory on the 9th. Lakeland has also already played their next game, a 25-4 defeat against Indian River on the 9th.
