The Gilbert Tigers will face off against the Williams Field Black Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Williams Field will be up against a hot Gilbert squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. Gilbert put the hurt on Mesa with a sharp 12-2 win on Monday.
Wilfredo Aviles IV made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Grant Goodman was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Gilbert is undefeated when Goodman posts two or more runs, but 4-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cameron Foegal, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Gilbert always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mesa only posted an OBP of .375.
Meanwhile, Williams Field got themselves on the board against Kellis on Friday, but Kellis never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Cougars. Considering the Black Hawks have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Gilbert, Williams Field also got a great game from a two-way player: Thomas Petranek. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Petranek was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other pitching news, Malcom Harrison looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Silas Stephens and Jackson Albers did most of the damage at the plate: Stephens went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Albers scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That triple marked the first that Stephens hit this season. Jaxin Hernandez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.
Gilbert's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Williams Field, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Gilbert came out on top in a nail-biter against Williams Field when the teams last played back in April of 2022, sneaking past 5-3. Will Gilbert repeat their success, or does Williams Field has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
