West Shamokin has gone 9-1 against Homer-Center recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wolves will welcome the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with West Shamokin sitting on 13 straight victories and Homer-Center on five.
On Monday, West Shamokin made easy work of Marion Center and carried off a 3-0 win.
While West Shamokin won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-21, 25-22.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Homer-Center faced off against River Valley on Monday. The Wildcats walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Panthers.
Homer-Center had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 13-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-18.
Homer-Center's win came from a few key players West Shamokin will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Taylor Rado, who had 15 digs, 11 kills, and five blocks. Those 11 kills gave her a new career-high. Ashlyn Yount was another key player, getting seven digs and two aces.
Homer-Center was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in six consecutive matchups.
West Shamokin's win bumped their record up to 14-1-1. As for Homer-Center, they now have a winning record of 10-9-1.
West Shamokin took their victory against Homer-Center in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
