The West Valley Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Perris Panthers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Citrus Hill scored an imposing 60 points on Thursday, West Valley still came out on top. West Valley snuck past Citrus Hill with a 65-60 victory. The win was some much needed relief for West Valley as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
West Valley relied on the efforts of Malachi Black, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, and Ahkil McClellan, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Black has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Elijah Alexander, who scored seven points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Perris had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 59-48 win over Tahquitz on Thursday. The victory was just what Perris needed coming off of a 81-46 loss in their prior game.
West Valley's record is now 8-11. Perris' record now sits at 3-14.
West Valley came up short against Perris when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 75-63. Can West Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
