The Tongue River Eagles waltzed into their matchup Saturday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They greeted the New Year with with a 52-34 victory over Burns. That's another feather in the cap for Tongue River, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Burns' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooke Hansen, who scored five points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Saria Eklund, who scored ten points.
Tongue River's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Burns, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Tongue River's road trip will continue as they head out to face Pine Bluffs at 2:30 p.m. on January 6th. Burns and Wright will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wright has insisted on making their lastfour contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-2 during that stretch of close contests.
