Toll Gate is 0-4 against the Oakers since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Toll Gate Titans will head out on the road to face off against the Coventry Oakers at 6:30 p.m. Toll Gate is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
Toll Gate pushed their score all the way to 57 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 81-57 walloping at the hands of South Kingstown. Toll Gate has struggled against the Rebels recently, as their game on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Toll Gate had strong showings from Dylan Perreault, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds, and Jack Colvin, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Perreault has scored all season.
Meanwhile, even though West Warwick scored an imposing 60 points on Saturday, Coventry still came out on top. Coventry walked away with a 70-60 win over the Wizards.
Coventry relied on the efforts of Tyler Broady, who scored 20 points along with seven assists and two blocks, and Logan Voelker, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 20 rebounds. Broady has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last five times he's played. Caleb Whited was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Toll Gate's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Coventry, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Toll Gate have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Coventry struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Toll Gate lost to the Oakers on the road by a decisive 47-33 margin when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Toll Gate avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
