Erie has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The Greeley West Spartans at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Erie has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 231 points over their last five games.
Erie put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 57-13 victory over Longmont at home. With Erie ahead 28-6 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Erie's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Gavin Lusk, who gained 178 total yards and two touchdowns, and Blake Barnett, who rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Erie also got help from Mason Cowgill who showed off his sure hands for 80 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 44-11, which was the final score in Greeley West's tilt against Monarch on Friday. Greeley West has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Erie's victory was their eighth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.4 points per game. As for Greeley West, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
Everything came up roses for Erie against Greeley West when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 44-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Erie since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
