MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. -
Manitou Springs (Colo.) jumped out to an early lead against
Florence (Colo.) and never looked back on the way to a 26-14 victory on Saturday.
The Mustangs put up six points in the opening frame. Manitou Springs scored on a touchdown pass by
Johnny Swanson to
Dustin Bohnert.
After taking the lead on a Swanson touchdown pass to Bohnert in the first quarter, MS led 12-0 at the half.
The Mustangs saw their 12-point halftime lead fall to 11 entering the fourth.
The victory was a completely different match up compared to last season's game between these two teams, which the Huskies took, 40-7.
The loss comes after Florence defeated Alamosa 44-20 last week. The loss ended Florence's two-game winning streak.
In a 2A Tri-Peaks game next week Manitou Springs (5-0) takes on Dolores Huerta Prep, and Florence (3-2) will go up against Lamar also in a 2A Tri-Peaks game.
