The Gowanda Panthers will stay at home for another game and welcome the Frewsburg Bears at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Monday, Gowanda came up short against Portville and fell 64-54.
Meanwhile, Frewsburg struggled with assists on Monday (Fredonia had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Frewsburg received a tough blow as they fell 67-50 to Fredonia. Frewsburg has not had much luck with Fredonia recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Frewsburg got a solid performance out of Gavin Smith, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. That was a full 48% of Frewsburg's points, marking the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kael Collver was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Gowanda now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Frewsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Gowanda was dealt a bruising 78-43 defeat at the hands of Frewsburg in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Gowanda was down 40-11.
