Springstead extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 6 this week by beating Hernando, 28-7. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Eagles.
Nature Coast Tech moved up to 216 from 271 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Sharks climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Mitchell 32-0.
Josh Zifer provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Sunlake defeated Land O'Lakes. He completed eight passes for 81 yards and also ran for 125 yards. Zifer's favorite target this week was Deyon Cox, who caught four passes for 56 yards.
James Pensyl threw for 76 yards and 18 touchdowns. He was eight-23 with one interceptions.
Matthew Breida was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 170 yards on 24 carries as Nature Coast Tech lost to Nature Coast Tech. Teammate Dominique Rawlings added to the ground attack by rushing for 62 yards.
Gebler was the best wideout in 6A District 6 this week as Mitchell lost to Charles Liggett's team. Gebler racked up four receptions for 60 yards. Dan Barber helped Mitchell's passing attack out by catching one ball for 24 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Tyler Mahla of Springstead is the league leader in passing yards this season with 669. He has also thrown six touchdowns. On the ground, the Sharks' Breida has rushed for 1226 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jonathan Thomas. The Nature Coast Tech star has 21 catches for 295 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Springstead takes on second place Mitchell. Bill Vonada's team bested the Leopards last week, while Scott Schmitz's team lost to Nature Coast Tech.

River Ridge took down Central 61-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Josh Maisel threw for 98 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 96 yards in the win.
