Hempstead is 0-10 against East Bernard since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hempstead Bobcats will head out on the road to take on the East Bernard Brahmas at 6:00 p.m. Hempstead will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1367th, while East Bernard is ranked 645th).
Hempstead can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game last Tuesday. They secured a 30-24 W over Brazos. The victory was just what Hempstead needed coming off of a 62-27 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, East Bernard was able to grind out a solid victory over Danbury on Tuesday, taking the game 58-45.
Ashlynn Lemos continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with seven steals and five assists. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Malaya Thomas, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Hempstead's win ended a 15-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-17. As for East Bernard, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season.
Hempstead took a serious blow against East Bernard in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 61-32. Can Hempstead avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
