The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hilton Head Island in their matchups with Hilton Head Christian Academy: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Hilton Head Island lost, one person who can't be blamed is Leah Jackson. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Jackson scored a full 36.2% of Hilton Head Island's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Amaya Wroten was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Hilton Head Christian Academy had a senior duo take command as Morgan Scott dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds and Tamya Hutchinson scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. The contest was Hutchinson's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Macey Langhals, who scored five points along with five steals.
Hilton Head Island has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Hilton Head Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hilton Head Island won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Carvers Bay at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Carvers Bay focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Wednesday.
