Frankfort is 8-2 against Fairmont Senior since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Falcons will take on the Polar Bears at 10:00 a.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Frankfort sitting on three straight wins and Fairmont Senior on six.
Frankfort barely beat Keyser the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Falcons' pitcher stepped up to hand the Golden Tornado a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won eight contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Jacob Nething and Lanson Orndorf did most of the damage at the plate: Nething went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Orndorf went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI Orndorf has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Peyton Durst, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI.
Frankfort always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Keyser only posted an OBP of .286.
Meanwhile, Fairmont Senior posted their closest victory since April 11th on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Grafton 3-2.
Matt Masters was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Masters was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Masters wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cam Peschl, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Fairmont Senior pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Frankfort, their record now sits at 13-6.
Frankfort came out on top in a nail-biter against Fairmont Senior when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
