It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but the Carroll Patriots ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They secured a 59-53 W over Archbishop McNicholas. The victory was all the more spectacular given Carroll's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 295th, while Archbishop McNicholas is ranked 74th).
Archbishop McNicholas' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlie Clark, who scored 18 points. Jack Tucker was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Carroll now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Archbishop McNicholas, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carroll will take on Edgewood at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Edgewood is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Archbishop McNicholas, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Turpin at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th.
