The North Hall Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Stockbridge Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought contest, but North Hall had to settle for a 42-39 loss against East Forsyth.
The losing side was boosted by Tanner Marsh, who rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and also threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes. Marsh was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. Another player making a difference was Ryals Puryear, who picked up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Stockbridge waltzed into Friday's matchup with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 63-21 win over McDonough. Considering Stockbridge has won eight matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Stockbridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden "duke" Scott out in front who rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Scott is absolutely dominating the rushing touchdown category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Mike Simms and his 110 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Stockbridge's victory.
Stockbridge's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. Jared Anthony was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three sacks himself.
With North Hall's loss and East Forsyth's victory, both teams now sport identical 7-3 records.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Saturday's game as North Hall and Stockbridge haven't had much trouble getting there this season. North Hall commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 4.5 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Stockbridge struggles in that department as they've been even better at 6.2 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Saturday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
