Wilmington has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Streator Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wilmington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
In what's become a running theme this season, Wilmington gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. Everything went their way against Peotone as Wilmington made off with a 60-39 victory.
Wilmington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryan Kettman, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Kettman hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Reid Juster was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Streator beat Coal City 52-43 on Saturday. Given Streator's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while Coal City is ranked 465th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wilmington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. As for Streator, their victory bumped their record up to 22-8.
Wilmington didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Streator in their previous matchup on Wednesday, but they still walked away with a 63-59 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wilmington since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
