The Liberty Ranch Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 63-44 bruising from Gregori. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Liberty Ranch in their matchups with Gregori: they've now lost three in a row.
Loss or not, Liberty Ranch got some senior leadership from Yousef Diab who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and Andrew Cadiz who scored 17 points. Diab also posted two blocks for the first time this season.
Gregori found their leader in underclassman Jayson Powers, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Powers has scored at least 25% of Gregori's points. Dru Shafer was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Liberty Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Gregori, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Liberty Ranch is on the road again on Saturday and play against McNair at 12:00 p.m. on December 9th. Gregori won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Sonora at 1:30 p.m. on December 9th. Hopefully Sonora focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
