The Hueneme Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Santa Paula Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Hueneme scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Malibu 64-40. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Hueneme as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hueneme to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chris Juanillo, who scored 15 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. It was the first time this season that Juanillo posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Eric Lerma, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Santa Paula waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They snuck past Carpinteria with a 59-55 win.
Hueneme's victory ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-20. As for Santa Paula, they pushed their record up to 22-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Hueneme might still be hurting after the 65-40 defeat they got from the Cardinals when the teams last played back in January. Can Hueneme avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
