Basketball Recap: Minden Piles Up the Points Against St. Paul

Minden had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They breezed by the St. Paul Wildcats to the tune of 70-26. With the Whippets ahead 43-19 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

It was another big night for Mattie Kamery, who went 7 for 13 en route to 17 points along with six assists and five steals. Her evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Myla Emery was another key player, going 6 of 13 on her way to 16 points.

Kamery wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Minden was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Paul only posted seven assists.

St. Paul's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Katie Kleinsasser, who posted six points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Kleinsasser a new career-high in assists (two). Another player making a difference was Aubree Fitzgerald, who scored six points and six rebounds.

Minden's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.9 points per game. As for St. Paul, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Minden has already played their next match (against Holdrege), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. St. Paul has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Centura.
