The Milford Central Wildcats came tearing into Wednesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Morris Central by a score of 75-66. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Milford Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Christian Lawson, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Lawson pulled down eight or more rebounds. Braden Murphy was another key contributor, scoring 27 points along with two steals.
Milford Central is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Morris Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.
Milford Central will square off against Worcester at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Worcester will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 591st, while Milford Central is ranked 279th). Morris Central's road trip will continue as they head out to face Edmeston Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Edmeston Central is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games.
