After flying high against Green Valley last Friday, Northview came back down to earth. The Vikings had to suffer through a 56-21 loss at the hands of the La Habra Highlanders.
Northview's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Isaiah Lucero, who picked up 152 receiving yards and one score, and Robert Lucero, who threw for 196 yards and one touchdown. DJ Mitchell was nothing short of spectacular for La Habra: he threw for 184 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 71 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries. That's the most rushing yards Mitchell has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kevika Mata'Utia- Martinez, who rushed for 114 yards and one score on only 12 carries.
Northview's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for La Habra, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Looking ahead, Northview will face off against Glendora at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for La Habra, they will challenge Ayala at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
