Lely's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lovence Valcin led the charge by scoring 14 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Valcin posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Richard Obas, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Aubrey Rogers lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jackson Rose. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Rose scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Zelek, who scored 13 points.
Lely's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-12. As for Aubrey Rogers, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lely will play host again and welcome Community School of Naples, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Aubrey Rogers, they will be playing at home against Barron Collier at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Barron Collier knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Aubrey Rogers likes a good challenge.
