The Lancaster Mennonite Blazers will head out on the road to square off against the Shalom Christian Academy Flames at 2:45 p.m. on Monday.
On Friday, Lancaster Mennonite came up short against West Shore Christian Academy and fell 6-2. The Blazers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Brady Kinney made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, while Shalom Christian Academy put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Calvary Christian Academy. Shalom Christian Academy blew past Calvary Christian Academy 12-0. The Flames haven't had any issues with Calvary Christian Academy recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Trey Wenger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That one hit allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Shalom Christian Academy let Will Turner and Keaton Shands run wild. Turner scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Shands scored two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, Shands posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Carter Defenderfer was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one double.
Shalom Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calvary Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .111.
Shalom Christian Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lancaster Mennonite, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lancaster Mennonite has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Shalom Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
