Fayette Ware had lost three straight, but after bumping their record up to 7-10 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They skirted past the Germantown Red Devils 13-12. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Caleb Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Holden, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since April 1st. Jon Doyle was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Fayette Ware was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
As for Germantown, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-14. Even if they couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
On Germantown's side, they got a massive performance out of Jacob Jones, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Jones has become a key player for the Red Devils: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 9-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Hubbard, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Fayette Ware does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Germantown, they will challenge Arlington at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
