The Liberty Christian Academy Heat will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lejeune Devil Pups at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Liberty Christian Academy's 19-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were the victim of a rough 73-47 loss at the hands of John Paul II Catholic on Tuesday. Liberty Christian Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Liberty Christian Academy had strong showings from Mark Bachmann, who scored 13 points along with 6 assists, and Caleb Morton, who scored 11 points. Luke Cavanuagh was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though North Duplin scored an imposing 70 points on Tuesday, Lejeune still came out on top. Lejeune strolled past North Duplin with points to spare, taking the game 87-70. The win made it back-to-back wins for Lejeune.
Devon Charles was on fire: he shot 5-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Lejeune's points. Another player making a difference was James Rod, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 10 rebounds.
The losses dropped both teams to an identical 1-2.
Thursday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Liberty Christian Academy have been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 38% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Lejeune struggles in that department as they've nailed 53.5% of theirs this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
