The San Diego Academy Cavaliers will face off against the Tri-City Christian Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tri-City Christian took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on San Diego Academy, who comes in off a win.
San Diego Academy took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Southwest SD, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. San Diego Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Southwest SD on Wednesday.
San Diego Academy was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 19-25, 23-25, 25-13, 15-13.

San Diego Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Josue Flores, who had 24 digs and two aces, and Dustin Jewell, who had 15 digs and one block. The dominant performance gave Jewell a new career-high in digs. Caleb Lindquist also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.
Meanwhile, Tri-City Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Horizon Prep.
Tri-City Christian started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-21, 15-9.
San Diego Academy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Tri-City Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.
