McKenzie is 1-9 against Shields since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The McKenzie Tigers will stay at home for another game and welcome the Shields Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, McKenzie came up short against Red Level and fell 64-54.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jaylen Mcmillian, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Quay Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, Shields' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 81-45 loss at the hands of Hillcrest. While losing is never fun, Shields can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Hillcrest is ranked 75th).
McKenzie has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Shields, they bumped their record down to 7-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
McKenzie ended up a good deal behind Shields in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, losing 48-33. Will McKenzie have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
