Perkins is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Eastwood is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Pirates will welcome the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Perkins barely beat Clyde the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pirates put the hurt on the Fliers with a sharp 13-6 win on Wednesday. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Fliers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Sam Schweinfurth was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Perkins let Talon Walton and Blake Parker run wild. Walton went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs, while Parker got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Walton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Souter, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Eastwood came out on top against Genoa Area on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Eagles were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Comets.
Like Perkins, Eastwood also got a great game from a two-way player: Kadyn Donnell. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Donnell was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colton Woodward, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double. That home run was his first of the season. Drew Luidhardt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Eastwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Eastwood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Perkins, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
Perkins couldn't quite get it done against Eastwood when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
