Basketball Recap: Johnson Comes Up Short

Johnson played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Fairfield Falcons, falling 69-45. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1024th, while the Falcons are ranked 242nd).

Despite the loss, Johnson still got an impressive performance from Desmond Mulhauser, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 14 points and three blocks. That's the most points Mulhauser has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Raymond Heskeia, who went 5 for 9 en route to 10 points.

Even though they lost, Johnson was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairfield only racked up eight assists.

Fairfield had a senior duo take command as Amarre Davis went 5 of 7 on his way to 14 points and Johnnie Jones went 6 for 7 en route to 13 points and three steals. Ivan Lopez also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Johnson has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Fairfield, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5.

Johnson has already played their next contest (against Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Fairfield will venture away from home to face off against Florin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Fairfield is facing Florin at the right time seeing as Florin is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
