The Houston Tigers are on the road again on Monday and plays the Norwood Pirates at 7:15 p.m. on February 5th. Houston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 482nd, while the Pirates are ranked 110th).
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 86-50, which was the final score in Houston's tilt against the Panthers on Tuesday. Houston was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-20.
Meanwhile, Norwood pushed their score all the way to 66 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 76-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gainesville.
Despite their loss, Norwood saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Peyton McDaris, who scored 19 points along with six assists, was perhaps the best of all. McDaris has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times he's played. Noah Drake was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Houston's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Norwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-7.
Houston was taken down by the Pirates 85-36 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Houston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
