The Orange Panthers posted their biggest win yet this season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 77-40 win over Williams at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-19.
Leading Orange to victory were Xandrell Pennix and Coleman Cloer. Pennix scored 19 points along with six steals and five rebounds, while Cloer scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Cloer is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Robinson, who scored four points along with six rebounds and six blocks.
Milton Turner and Cavion Stokes certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Turner scored ten points along with five rebounds, while Stokes scored ten points.
Williams struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
The victory makes it two in a row for Orange and bumps their season record up to 5-10. As for Williams, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orange the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Cedar Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th. Cedar Ridge is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for Williams, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eastern Alamance at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Averaging 70.4 so far this season, Eastern Alamance's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Williams better be ready for a challenge.
