The Bethune Bobcats will head out on the road to take on the Flagler Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 12 consecutive losses for Bethune and nine for Flagler.
Bethune struggled with assists on Tuesday (Weskan had 15 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Bethune had to suffer through a rough 67-22 loss at the hands of Weskan. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bethune in their matchups with Weskan: they've now lost eight in a row.
Ty Morris was Bethune's leading scorer, having posted 11 points.
Angel Herrera held things down on the boards with five rebounds.
Josh Salinas took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Meanwhile, Flagler was beaten by Stratton 74-37 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Flagler can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 318th, while Stratton is ranked 89th).
Bethune dropped their record down to 1-14 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.6 points per game. As for Flagler, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.
Bethune couldn't quite finish off Flagler in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 and fell 33-31. Can Bethune avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
