On Saturday, the Lakeland Hawks faced the Sandpoint Bulldogs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lakeland came out on top against Sandpoint by a score of 42-35. The win made it back-to-back wins for Lakeland.
Despite the loss, Sandpoint saw an underclassman step up: Brecken Mire scored 12 points along with three steals. Karlie Banks was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds.
Lakeland is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Sandpoint, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-5.
Lakeland is on the road again on Thursday and plays Bishop Kelly at 12:00 p.m. on February 15th. Bishop Kelly will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Lakeland surely won't give up without a fight. Sandpoint does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
