Two dominant signal callers in Christian Grayson and Nathan Byrd are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Charlestown Pirates will be playing at home against the Scottsburg Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Charlestown comes in on three and Scottsburg on five.
Last Friday, Charlestown didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Providence, but they still walked away with a 32-28 victory.
Aj Todd was his usual excellent self, rushing for 93 yards and one touchdown, while also catching one score. Addison Jones was in the mix too, providing Charlestown with one TD.
Meanwhile, Scottsburg got themselves on the board against Silver Creek on Friday, but Silver Creek never followed suit. They took their game with ease, bagging a 42-0 win over the Dragons. The Warriors pushed the score to 35-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Dragons had no chance of recovering from.
Scottsburg's win came from a few key players Charlestown will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Landon Shuck, who rushed for 145 yards and one score while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, and also caught one touchdown. Garrett Boling was another key player, picking up 114 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Scottsburg didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Janyer Pinto-Herrera and Kameron Reed. Pinto-Herrera got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Scottsburg's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Charlestown, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
