West Johnston has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The South Johnston Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (West Johnston is ranked 188th, while South Johnston is ranked 176th).
West Johnston fell victim to Hunt's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Warriors 35-0. West Johnston was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Meanwhile, everything went South Johnston's way against East Wake on Monday as South Johnston made off with a 31-8 victory.
South Johnston's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Riley Adams, who threw for 164 yards and a touchdown on only 15 passes. Kalib Brown also helped out with an impressive 91 receiving yards.
Another reason for the win was South Johnston's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Kelvin Fitts and Jaekob Robinson who racked up four sacks between them.
Hunt's win bumped their season record to 8-1 while West Johnston's defeat dropped theirs to 5-4.
West Johnston came up short against South Johnston in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 14-7. Can West Johnston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
