While the Lakeland Christian Vikings couldn't quite beat the Zephyrhills Bulldogs on Tuesday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 20-point defeat they were dealt last Monday. Lakeland Christian fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 43-41. Lakeland Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2021.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ralph Scott, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Scott continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Matthew Stephens, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Lakeland Christian has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-7 record this season. As for Zephyrhills, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeland Christian will take on the Bulldogs at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Florida (Frostproof is ranked 315th, while the Vikings are ranked 292nd). As for Zephyrhills, they will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
